This replacement deck did not follow the old deck footprint but instead decreased the upper tier in size and included a lower tier which provides direct access to the hot tub and leads to grade.

2 x 6 decking has been installed with 1 row of picture framing (single board border). The railing system was updated from cantilevered wood balusters to metal pickets with wooden posts and rails. The piers were constructed with belled out concrete footings and 6×6 wood posts, replacing the old partially ‘floating’ deck on deck blocks and wood posts.

The old existing deck on this home was significantly frost heaved (due to inadequate footing depth) and had started to rip the nailed stair landing from the main deck.
