This 2-car, 462 square foot garage replaces an interlocking brick parking pad in the rear yard.

Limited in height due to by-laws to a very modest pitch, the roof mimicked the front porch roof slope and appearance of the main home. Matching the brick veneer and wood shake gable ends on the home was important to the homeowners — as of course was their budget.

As such, a slab-on-grade (floating slab) foundation was necessary to remain within budget. The Ontario building code does not permit standard brick veneer on such foundations so a light-weight thin-cut brick veneer was chosen for the cladding which was adhered directly to the wall.
